Let’s start with a Broker Bob’s quote:
“Valentine’s day is coming up which is a woman’s holiday. Men – don’t expect to get anything but be sure to get flowers. Spend a lot of money on flowers even though it’s a total waste of money but that’s what they appreciate most so get flowers. I’ve been married for almost 58 years and have a little experience.”
The Story Behind Valentine’s Day: How It All Started
Valentine’s Day—it’s that time of year when love is in the air, flowers are everywhere, and chocolate becomes its own food group. But have you ever stopped to wonder where this holiday actually comes from? Well I went ahead and did the research so you don’t have to.
Way back in ancient times, there was a Roman festival in mid-February that celebrated love, fertility, and maybe even a little matchmaking. Fast forward a bit, and we get to the story of Saint Valentine—a guy who, according to legend, secretly helped couples get married when it wasn’t allowed. Eventually, his name became linked to the idea of love and devotion.
As time went on, people started associating February 14th with romance. By the Middle Ages, poets were writing about love on this special day, and eventually, folks started exchanging little notes and tokens of affection. Before you knew it, Valentine’s Day had turned into the holiday we know today!
Even though Valentine’s Day is usually about couples, it’s really just a day to appreciate the people in your life. Whether it’s your partner, your best friend, your CLIENTS, or even yourself, it’s a great excuse to spread a little love and kindness.
From ancient legends to modern-day heart-shaped chocolates, Valentine’s Day has come a long way. No matter how you celebrate—whether with a fancy date night, a cozy evening at home, or just a little self-care—it’s really all about love. And who doesn’t need more of that? Happy Valentine’s Day!
